day 7 Luxor, Valley of the Kings (47 images)
We spent the day visiting more tombs in the Valley of the King. These tombs had many wall paintings with incredibly preserved colors. We also saw the tomb of King Tut with his mummy, however no photos were allowed in the Tut tomb. The western wall is covered with 12 Baboons that represent the 12 hours throughout the night which Tutankhamun must pass through before getting into the Afterlife. If you search for KingTut tomb paintings you will see the amazing and well preserved walls. Our last stop was to see the Colossi of Memnon the two massive stone statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III. For the past 3400 years (since 1350 BC) they have stood in the Theban necropolis, west of the River Nile from the modern city of Luxor.
